Kosciusko, Mississippi couple face charges for narcotics, possibly heroinA young married Kosciusko, Mississippi couple was arrested last week and charged with selling narcotics, including what was believed to be heroin.
Steven Mitchell, 21, and Tori Mitchell, 26, both of Route 1, were arrested by Detective Randy Blakely and other Kosciusko, Mississippi police officers during a traffic stop on Jefferson Street at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. They were charged with sale of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Mississippi Officers found morphine and OxyContin and the substance believed to be heroin has been sent to the state crime lab for testing, Detective Curtis Pope said.
Kosciusko, Mississippi police wouldn't say if they were still in jail or had bonded out, but jail records show that Steven Mitchell, who had been held without bond for a few days, was released on a $25,000 property bond on Friday. Tori Mitchell also posted $25,000 bond shortly after her arrest.
In a separate incident, Roy Goss Jr., 36, of Kosciusko was arrested Thursday at 12:20 a.m. for possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, second-offense DUI, driving with no insurance and speeding. Officer Danny Groves made the arrest in a traffic stop.
It was the fifth marijuana arrest in the city in a six-day span.
Shelia Thornton, 18, of Kosciusko added to that total Saturday night when she was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of liquor in a dry county during a traffic stop. She was in a car with Michael Moudy, 26, who was pulled over for going the wrong way on Washington Street, a one-way street, at City Hall around 10 p.m. Moudy was wanted on a simple assault warrant.
