Tishomingo County, Mississippi lawmen raid house, find meth labIUKA, Mississippi - Tishomingo County, Mississippi authorities say they have destroyed a crystal methamphetamine lab and recovered several pieces of stolen equipment at a Burnsville, Mississippi residence.
Sheriff Glenn Whitlock said one person was arrested during the raid earlier this week but that the identity of the suspect was being withheld pending further investigation.
Other arrests are expected, Whitlock said.
The sheriff said that while the lab was not operating when officers arrived, almost all of the ingredients and equipment necessary to produce the illegal drug were at the site.
Construction equipment and tools reported stolen recently at a Burnsville, Mississippi business were recovered, officers said.
A crew from Memphis was called in to clean up the area.
"Some of these elements, when mixed, can be seriously toxic," Whitlock said. "(Crystal meth) is becoming more and more of a problem in Mississippi and it's a problem in Tishomingo County, Mississippi as it is everywhere else."
